It was seven sisters, visiting seven cities with one message. The groundbreaking mission of Anointed Authors on Tour was launched by founding members, (L to R) Shewanda Riley, Tia McCollors, Kendra Norman-Bellamy, Vanessa Miller, Norma Jarrett, Michelle Stimpson, and Dr. Vivi Monroe Congress (seated front).
There had never been a tour group quite like this one. The authors were virtual strangers, writing for various publishing houses and living in different parts of the country. Yet, they were pulled together via the internet by a common thread: the desire to spread the importance of positive literacy and the message of Jesus Christ to souls across the nation. Most of the authors had never met one another before the launch of the tour in August 2006. They met collectively for the first time in Atlanta, Georgia where the tour got a stellar kickoff. It was definitely a Divine order.
Between the months of August and December 2006, stops were made in Columbus, Georgia, Atlanta, Georgia, Houston, Texas, Baltimore, Maryland, Dallas, Texas, Memphis, Tennessee, and finally, Cleveland, Mississippi. The Spirit of the Lord met the sisters at each stop and because of it, hearts were touched, lives were changed and the seeds for a follow-up tour were planted and are already beginning to flourish.
In His Word, God made a promise to His people to do “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). As the sisters toured, they found confirmation. They were given the opportunity visit mega churches, community centers, universities and national book events to teach workshops, host book signings, have panel discussions and address mass crowds. They even captured the attention of both Christian and secular radio stations who interviewed them live and area newspapers who wrote features on the tour.
Overall, the response and support of the people was overwhelmingly positive. The authors were received in the spirit of excellence by those who hosted their visits. They ministered to the listeners at every appearance and were ministered to as they took the time to fellowship with several of the area churches. The sisters even got a few unexpected surprises when they were blessed to meet a few celebrities (actor, Hill Harper and singer, Kelly Price) along the way.
The 2006 Anointed Authors on Tour was a phenomenal experience. Stay tuned for the 2007 tour which will bring the authors back to a few of the 2006 cities, but will also take them to new areas. Some of the planned stops are in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, Washington, D.C., Killeen, Texas and Miami, Florida. Updates will be posted on the official Anointed Authors on Tour website.
